Admissions

St. Rose of Lima School admits students of any race, color, racial or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students to our school.  The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, racial or ethnic origin in the administration of its education policies, admission policies and other school administrated programs.

Students may register for the Fall Term in April.  A student entering Kindergarten must be five (5) years of age by August 31 of that year.  Baptismal record, Certificate of Birth, immunization record, Certificate of Transfer (if applicable) and Report Card of the previous year and the completed St. Rose of Lima application are required documents before a student is considered for acceptance.  Final approval by the Principal is required for admission into the school.

Catholic School Behavior Expectations

  • Stand when an adult enters classroom;
  • Say Please, Thank You, and Excuse Me;
  • Greet adults with handshake, if appropriate;
  • Ask Visitors if you can help them;
  • We will pray the Angelus at the end of Lunch recess.

School Hours

Classes for all grades begin at 8:00 A.M. and end at 2:40 P.M (8:20 - 11:00am for Preschool).  Children are to be picked up no later than 3:00 P.M (11:10am for Preschool).  Students should not arrive at school before 8:10 A.M. unless they are being transported by bus.

Absences

If your child will not be attending school, please notify the school office (754-4901) that morning and each morning the absence is expected. A written note explaining the absence is required when your child returns.  In some cases, a doctor’s re-entry slip may be required.  Homework assignments may be requested before 11:00 A.M. and picked up in the school office at the end of the school day (2:40 P.M.).  Make-up work is the student’s responsibility. A student who is absent fifteen (15) or more days during a grading period will have his/her grades withheld until the work is made up to the teacher’s satisfaction.

Tardiness

The Tardy Bell rings at 8:25 A.M. A student arriving after this bell must report to the school office for a Tardy Slip before going to class.

Vacations

Vacations during the school year are discouraged.  There is no substitute for classroom instruction.

Early Release

Students are dismissed through the office for illness or medical/dental appointments.  The parent/guardian must call the school office to request early release.  The Office Personnel will send for the child.  Parents/guardians are asked to wait in the office for the children.  Parents need to sign out their child(ren) in the school’s check in/out log.
