Change of Address, Phone or Person to Call in an Emergency

An EMERGENCY INFORMATION card will be filled out at registration. It is imperative for your child’s safety that records are kept up to date. Send a note to the office whenever a change occurs.

Snow/Ice Days

In the event of school closure due to inclement weather or for other reasons, please keep tuned to the following radio stations (not local television stations): KULE (730 AM) Ephrata; KBSN (1470 AM), KDRM (99.3 FM), KWIQ (1020 AM or 100.3 FM) Moses Lake; KWWW (96.7 FM) Quincy; KPQ (102 FM) Wenatchee. In the event of school closure the school calendar will be adjusted accordingly.

Health

Students must meet state immunization requirements. Health records are kept on file for each student. All new students are required to show proof of immunizations before entering school. A student may be suspended for non-compliance with the State Immunization Code. Each year our health services include vision and audio screening. A Scoliosis examination may be available for students in fifth grade.

Illness or Injury at School

If a student is injured or becomes ill at school he/she is to report to his/her teacher and ask for permission to go to the school office. If necessary, we will try to contact the student’s parents or legal guardians. All students who are injured or become ill during school hours must be checked at the school office by the parent or legal guardian before leaving school. Please keep your emergency card up to date!

Medicine

Medicine will be dispensed to students by school personnel with a completed permission form signed and dated by the parent/guardian and the attending physician. Please contact the school office for a form. Students are not allowed to carry any type of medicine while on school grounds.

Telephone

All messages, unless it is an emergency, will be delivered at the most convenient opportunity to minimize disruption of the learning environment. The school telephone is not for student use. In case of an emergency, the student should request permission to use the office telephone from his/her teacher before coming to the office. Students are not allowed to call home for forgotten homework, books, P.E. clothes, etc. The office will attempt to contact parents if there is an emergency or if a student has forgotten his/her lunch.

Cell Phone or other Electronic Devices

Students are prohibited from using and/or having cell phones or other electronic devices turned on during the school day, unless otherwise directed by a teacher, administrator or other authorized adult. This includes the lunch periods and on school sponsored trips. “Using” refers to not only the making and receiving of calls, but also refers to using the electronic communication devices for any other purpose. As a school we presume that if your child has a cell phone it is for emergency purposes only. Therefore, the phone should remain in your child’s backpack during the day.

Leaving Campus

Students may not leave the school grounds without written permission from the parents. Any student leaving the premises must be signed out of school by the parent/guardian through the school office.

Testing Program

Standardized tests will be administered in the fall and in the spring to students in third through sixth grade. Tests may include the Star test, and the DIBELS test.

Field Trip

School/class coordinated field trips are activities that contribute to the educational growth of the students. Keeping this in mind, only students in the particular class(es) are allowed to attend field trips and students must be in attendance at school the day the field trip is to occur. Educational field trips are properly planned and supervised. If drivers are needed for a field trip, it is agreed that no deviations from the planned event are permitted, as this helps to keep on schedule and the students traveling as a group. When taking a field trip parents must provide an approved child car seat or booster chair as per Washington State Law. Written parental consent and liability release will be required for all field trips. Unless otherwise planned, all carpooling for field trips will depart and return to the school.

Damage to Property

The cost of damage done to school property by students using the school facilities is to be assumed in whole or in part by the parents of students who are responsible for the destruction. The amount will be determined by the Principal.

Transfers

If your child is transferring to another school during the school year, please inform the school office at least one week in advance. All records will be forwarded to the new school upon request from the new school.
