St Rose Jog-A-Thon 2012!!!!

Written by Administrator

St Rose Jog-A-Thon 2012!!!!

Dear St Rose Families,

Our 2012 Jog-A-Thon will take place on Thursday, May 24th at 1:30. I know we get tired of fundraising, but I would encourage families to consider supporting this Jog-A-Thon, as all money raised will go into the Father Kerr Scholarship Fund, which enables many students to attend our great school.

Your kids will be coming home with a collection envelope and pledge sheet. As you can see on the pledge sheet, people can choose whether to give a flat pledge, or to pledge a certain amount for each lap completed. Since the Jog-A-Thon is taking place so close to the end of the school year, we only have 1 week following the Jog-A-Thon to collect pledges and turn it in to the school. For those of you with friends and family out of town, I would recommend giving them a call and asking them for a flat pledge. That way they can send the money ahead of time and be sure it gets here by the deadline of June 1st.

This year each child and staff member will be given a free Jog-A-Thon T-shirt which they will wear the day of the event. St Rose students had the chance to enter a contest to design our shirt this year, so I’m excited to see what they’ll look like! We also have some great prizes this year. The student with the most pledge money collected, and the student who runs the most laps will each win a 2012 family pass to SplashZone! The class who runs the most laps will win a Subway lunch party, and the class with the most pledges collected will win an ice cream sundae party.

Dates to know:

  • Wednesday, May 23rd - Pledge sheets turned in to school
  • Thursday, May 24th - Jog-A-Thon at 1:30. Parents can come watch or help. Kids should wear comfortable clothes and shoes good for lots of jogging. T-shirt will be provided.
  • Friday, June 1st - All money must be turned in to be eligible for prizes.

Download the Revised Pledge Form here!

If you have any questions, contact the school office, or feel free to call me at 509-312-9429.

Thank you!

Dear Preschool Parents !

Written by Administrator

Dear Preschool Parents,

Our school year is very quickly coming to a close!  We are currently accepting applications for Pre-3 and Pre-4 for the 2012-2013 school year.  As we did last year, we will be using an application process to fill spots for both classes.  It is not a first come-first served basis.  Our pre-school, especially our four year old pre-school, is largely the beginning of our Kindergarten class and for classes in the coming years.  It is extremely important for us to allow those interested in a Catholic school education K-6 at St. Rose to be invited into our pre-school program.  Historically, we have lost families interested in continuing at St. Rose due to a long waiting list, we pray that the application process will improve this.

New Items to know:

When you register, you will need to fill out a packet including an application to be accepted into the pre-school program with a $50 registration fee.  If your child does not receive a spot, your registration fee will be reviewd for reimbursement.  The pre-school material and snack fee will be due by May 31st to receive an early bird discount.  This fee goes up by $45 after May 31st.

We will be reviewing applications submitted on April 13th.  You will receive a letter stating your acceptance or our apologies for a lack of space the third week of April.  Please send in your paperwork as soon as possible.

The tuition for pre-school has changed.  3yr old pre-school will be $900/yr or $75/mo and 4yr old pre-school will be $1,250/yr or $104.17/mo.  If your 4yr old pre-school student continues with St. Rose for Kindergarten the following year, $250 of our pre-school tuition will be credited toward their Kindergarten year!

 Current pre-4 parents:

We have set a tentative cap for you Kindergarten at 15 students, and spots are filling up quickly.  We would like to give you a head start on getting your spot reserved.  Please complete your registration paperwork with the $50 registration fee by May 31st.  Kindergarten book fees must be paid by May 31st to receive the early bird rate.  The book fee will go up $50 after May 31st.

If you are not aware of our scholarship program, we do have scholarships available for grades K-6.  If you are interested, please call the office for details on how to apply.

Thank you all for your dedication to St. Rose School.

God Bless,

Amy Krautscheid

Library Thank You!

Written by Administrator

THANK YOU !

St. Rose School Library, Teachers & Students would like to say – “A BIG THANK YOU!” – for your generous support of our Book Fair Luau and One for Books. We sold about $4100—with our profit back to us at 50%--$2050. Each classroom received $100 in books, plus books purchased from the teachers wish picks. The library received about $1200 in new books and AR prizes. Scholastic matches our $232 collected for the One for Books and gives that same amount in books back to others in need nationwide.

Thanks again & God bless you for your generosity!

Dear Ladies of St. Rose School, Ladies Night Out

Written by Administrator

As co-chairs for the 2012 Auction and as fellow St. Rose moms, we would like to encourage you to join us at the Ladies Night Out on the first Monday of each month.

Basin Street Bistro opens exclusively for us at 6:30pm. We have yummy food waiting for us (so don’t eat dinner!) and you are welcome to purchase a glass of wine or beer to enjoy while you visit with other ladies. One of us has been a St. Rose parent for a long time while the other of us joined the St. Rose family just a couple of years ago. We remember how it sometimes felt that everyone knew everyone else. The Ladies Night Out is a way to help us all get a chance to know one another. We truly are like a big family here and want to get to know you! If you have a preschooler or Kindergartner, please come join us. If you are new to our school this year or if you aren’t able to be at the school during the day please take advantage of this chance to come meet us and the other St. Rose moms, grandmas, teachers, staff and volunteers. If you just need some time away with other women, you are welcome, too!

As part of Ladies Night Out, we ask that you bring an item to contribute to a basket. Each month we have a new theme for the basket. All of the baskets will be donated to our school auction in November. Donations do not have to cost a lot and can even be handmade or a donation of services. The items for the “Date Night” themed basket from last week’s Ladies Night Out ranged from cute to practical to racy. If you weren’t able to attend last week, please feel free to drop off a “Date Night” item in the school office and we’ll be sure it gets put in the basket.

For those of you who have been attending the Ladies Night Out events, remember to invite another lady who cares about St. Rose School to come with you. We sure hope to see you on March 5! Our March basket theme is “March Madness”—family indoor fun & games).

Yours,

Natalie Claussen & Michele Johnson

Letter from Principal Amy Krautscheid

Written by Administrator

Wow.....all I can really say is praise God and bless each and every one of you. As I met with our students today, I wondered where to start. I told them that we had a very special visitor at our school this weekend. Jesus was at our auction this Saturday. Only God alone could generate the amount of love and generosity shown to our school this weekend. Their faces lit up and the love they have for our Lord showed in each and every one of their eyes. Standing there in front of them, I wondered what I ever did to deserve such an amazing job. Why did God see me as worthy enough to help lead our school? I am honored and unable to find the words to thank you enough for putting your faith in me as your principal and in our school.

Only a short few years ago, we wondered if our little school would close. Now our worry has changed to where we can put another class and whether to add seventh and eighth grade. Amazing. Through prayer and the extreme dedication and hard work of all of our families, the 2011 auction was the most successful auction in the history of St. Rose School. We have raised a preliminary $168, 000. It truly takes each and every one of you to make the auction successful. From the parent hanging paper, to the sibling bussing tables, to the auction chairs who sacrifice so much family time and put countless hours into procurement and each detail so vital to the success of the auction.....we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You are all the backbone of this school. You are the life that people feel as they walk into our school. You are why this school is thriving.

So again, thank you...thank you....thank you. I am blessed and humbled to be a part of the miracle of St. Rose School. We are doing GREAT things here. There is life and love pulsing in these hallways. God bless all of you. There is nothing that He can not do.

                                                                        Love in Christ,
