Reading: We begin our week by introducing the theme for the Reading lesson and giving the background to the story we will be investigating. We stop often during the story to answer questions that help us better understand the author’s purpose and the meanings behind his words. Spelling and Grammar are presented each day to help us with our writing. We emphasize reading AR books every day to become better readers. Use the following internet site and log-in information to access the student reading text, practice book, magazine, write-in reader, and leveled readers.

Mathematics: We move right along in Math to give the sixth grade exposure to their curriculum. Each day starts with a review of yesterday’s objectives, then we start in with the new day’s subject matter.
Religion: Through the study of Christ’s life and His teachings, and the study of the Sacraments we try to better understand our Faith. We each have a bible, which we will use often to understand ideas presented in our daily reading.
Social Studies: United States History will be our focus this year in Social Studies.Non-fiction AR books about any part of our country’s history will be encouraged.Having a background of the struggles required to develop our country helps us to become better citizens.
Science: Mixtures and Solutions is the title of the Foss Kit we will be using this year. We will be working in groups, writing in our journal, and developing a notebook based on concepts that will help us understand the material. In March we are responsible for a science investigation that shows us more clearly the scientific process.
